BRICS vs. The US In Africa

Guest Post by Andrew Korybko

This emerging front of the New Cold War will likely see the Sino-Russo Entente more closely coordinate against the US-led West there.

Africa is increasingly figuring into major countries’ and organizations’ discussions due to its growing importance in global affairs. The UN expects that more than half of the world’s population growth by the 2050 will occur on that continent, with the number of people in sub-Saharan Africa doubling by then. This will open up new market and labor opportunities alongside the existing resource ones that have already attracted international interest, but it’ll also lead to developmental and humanitarian challenges.

The Kazan Declaration that was just agreed to during the last BRICS Summit speaks highly about helping and empowering Africa during this transformational period, but these countries – whether as a whole, through minilaterals, or bilaterally – will inevitably have to compete with the US there. The latter’s grand strategy takes several forms that’ll be briefly described in this analysis, but it altogether aims to impede others’ efforts to mutually benefit from these processes while exploiting Africa as much as possible.

The most visible manifestation of this strategy is the continued provisioning of humanitarian aid, which sounds noble at first glance but is actually driven by ulterior motives. This form of support has been weaponized over the decades to cultivate and co-opt corrupt elites in order to institutionalize relationships of dependence that are difficult for recipient countries to liberate themselves from. The purpose is to create levers of influence that can be wielded to legitimize lopsided deals with the West.

BRICS – which from here on out refers to either the group as a whole, minilaterals therein, or individual members – can counteract this by assisting their African partners with agricultural development so that they eventually become less reliant on American aid. Major grain producers like Russia can also provide more of their own no-strings-attached aid during the interim. A balance must be struck between meeting immediate needs and moving countries closer to self-sufficiency over the long term.

The next way in which US strategy towards Africa manifests itself is through the “Africa Growth and Opportunity Act” (AGOA) that allows for duty-free trade between them. The downside to this arrangement is that the US has removed countries like Ethiopia and Mali from it as punishment for them refusing to comply with its political demands. In other words, while there are certainly some economic benefits to be had from this arrangement, they can be cut off if countries don’t do what the US wants.

BRICS’ response has been to liberalize trade and investment with Africa as a whole, which is easier than ever due to the creation of the “Africa Continental Free Trade Area” (AfCFTA). China leads the way in this respect due to its much larger and more developed economy relative to other BRICS members, but Russia, India, and the UAE are also making important strides in this direction too. The goal is to diversify these countries’ trade partnerships so that they’re not destabilized if the US kicks them out of AGOA.

Building upon the trade dimension of this strategy is the financial one wherein the US takes advantage of the West’s leading role in global financial institutions like the IMF and World Bank to offer strings-attached loans to desperate countries. These are then weaponized to further entrench their lopsided trade and investment ties while also coercing their leaders into making certain political concessions. The end result is that recipient countries lose more of their sovereignty and risk socio-political unrest.

China has taken the lead among BRICS countries in providing no-strings-attached loans through its Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) to finance mutually beneficial megaprojects and help struggling countries avoid Western debt traps of the sort described above. BRICS’ rising role as a financial actor in its own right, particularly with regard to the New Development Bank that it created, could complement these efforts to counteract claims that African states are just trading Western dependence for Chinese dependence.

Moving along, the US wants to guide Africa’s journey through the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”/“Great Reset” (4IR/GR) by bringing the entire continent online through December 2022’s “Digital Transformation with Africa” (DTA) initiative. The Carnegie Endowment’s report from March 2024 noted that not much had been done with its promised $800 million by then, but if any progress is made and this isn’t just a slush fund or PR stunt, then it would likely lead to continental-wide digital surveillance.

African countries could take a page out of Russia’s and some other BRICS members’ playbooks by passing laws about data localization, which prohibits sending users’ data abroad. That’s not a silver-bullet solution to digital surveillance but it provides the best balance possible between much-needed foreign digital investment into (in this case developing) economies and national security.  In parallel, Africa countries should court such investment from BRICS states, with China already being a prime partner.

Resource extraction is another element of the US’ grand strategy towards Africa, which is being prioritized through the Lobito Corridor that was unveiled by the US and the EU in September 2023 for facilitating the export of Southern African minerals to the Western market. This region is rich in copper, lithium, and other resources that are indispensable for the 4IR/GR in which the US and China are fiercely competing to shape the contours of the future global economy.

The most surefire way to ensure that mineral-rich African countries aren’t exploited is to emulate Tanzania’s 2017 “National Wealth And Resources (Permanent Sovereignty) Act” that forbade the export of raw materials for processing. This is meant to encourage the construction of a domestic processing industry to add value to these exports and provide jobs for its burgeoning population. Global costs will rise if enough countries copy this policy, but it would be for the betterment of their own people.

Segueing into the more nefarious forms of US grand strategy towards Africa, observers can’t forget about the numerous information warfare campaigns that it’s waging across the continent. These are aimed at discrediting its rivals like Russia, stoking inter-state discord such as between BRICS members Ethiopia and Egypt for instance, and exacerbating preexisting internal (usually identity-centric) differences in order to destabilize fragile states through Hybrid Warfare as punishment for not capitulating to the US’ demands.

Better “Pre-Bunking, Media Literacy, & Democratic Security” policies are the only way to enhance the defenses of targeted states and societies, but they’ll take time to be applied even in the best-case scenario so some trouble is bound to follow these campaigns. Reputational damage to BRICS countries can be mitigated through counteroperations, inter-state discord can be managed through BRICS mediation, while internal conflicts might require security assistance from some BRICS states.

The last point directly leads to the next form in which the US’ grand strategy towards Africa manifests itself, namely through the waging of proxy wars like what’s happening in the Sahel. Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger expelled French and US forces over the past few years, formed an alliance prior to exploring a confederation, and were then targeted by more foreign-backed terrorist and separatist attacks. France and the US are working hand-in-hand together with Ukraine to punish those three countries for this.

Russia has taken the lead in helping its new regional partners through the deployment of military advisors and PMCs via a strategy that was elaborated on here for those who’d like to learn about it. Other BRICS countries can help with arms exports and intelligence support if they have the capabilities and will to do so, though most don’t and are instead expected to sit on the sidelines of these proxy wars. If they intensify, then it can’t be ruled out that some formal Western military intervention might follow.

Therein lies the final form of US grand strategy, direct military action against African countries, which is employed on a case-by-case basis whose motives widely vary from Somalia to Libya. The infamous AFRICOM organizes such activities that are greatly facilitated by the archipelago of American bases, including unofficial ones, that spread across the continent since 2001. The current focus on the Sahel might lead to new drone bases in the Ivory Coast from which to “surgically strike” targets in the north.

Once again, Russia is the only BRICS state that has the capabilities and will to counteract these threats, which it could do by empowering its partners (including non-state ones) to retaliate against those states that host US bases and/or target those facilities directly. The NATO-Russian proxy war in Ukraine could also be intensified as an asymmetrical response to throw the West off balance, but the West could do the same to Russia as revenge for foiling its plans in Africa, thus linking these two New Cold War fronts.

The takeaway from this analysis is that BRICS has a key role to play in helping Africa defend itself from the US’ hegemonic plots, but only Russia will do so in a security sense while China’s economic support will remain unmatched. Accordingly, this emerging front of the New Cold War will likely see the Sino–Russo Entente more closely coordinate against the US-led West there, which’ll provide opportunities for other BRICS states like India to present themselves to African countries as reliable balancers.

Mass Casualty Event” In Northern Israel After Hezbollah Drone Strikes IDF Soldiers

According to Haaretz reporting, at least 39 Israelis were wounded (four critically and 12 moderately to severely) after a  drone attack was launched from Lebanon targeting the Golani Brigade base in Binyamina, leading to critical injuries and fatalities in the northern Haifa district.

A bad day for Israel
Ambulances lined up
Chopper evacuation

According to Al Jazeera, at least three people are confirmed dead, with Channel 12 and the Israeli Army Radio adding that two drones were launched toward Israel, and while air defenses shot down one over the sea, a second drone “impacted the base.

The military is investigating why no sirens were activated and why no interception occurred

According to unconfirmed reports, the drone attack hit a food court where Israeli soldiers were gathered before leaving for operations in Lebanon.

The Israeli Army Radio, citing a military source, said that the Hezbollah drone attack “is the bloodiest since the beginning of the war.”

According to Drop Site News, despite widespread coverage of the attack, Israeli media outlets appear to be operating under a blackout or censorship order. Reports confirm the occurrence of the strike and the number of casualties; however, the outlets refrain from disclosing that the target was a Golani military base or that the injured were soldiers. Notably, Haaretz has also limited its reporting to press releases from rescue services and, as of this post, has not mentioned the military base.

Following the strike, Hezbollah has warned Israeli ‘settlers’ against staying near army bases in northern Israel ‘until further notice.’ It’s doubtful whether the Israeli “settlers” will follow Hezbollah’s advice.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with many expecting a retaliation by Israel against Iran in response to the recent missile launch. While the Biden admin appears to have removed the threat to Iran’s nuclear facilities, many expect that when Israel does retaliate it will target Iran’s military infrastructure.

Europe still buying Russian gas, despite sanctions

Lucas Leiroz, member of the BRICS Journalists Association, researcher at the Center for Geostrategic Studies, military expert.

Once again, the European reality confronts the anti-Russian madness fomented by the US. According to recent data published by the German media, Moscow has overtaken Washington as the largest supplier of natural gas to the EU. This shows that Europe, despite adhering to sanctions, will not be able to get rid of energy cooperation with Russia any time soon, being the project of “isolating” Moscow absolutely unfeasible.

Since 2022, the EU has maintained several sanctions against the Russian Federation in retaliation for the launch of the special military operation in Ukraine. Brussels has set itself the goal of eliminating any dependence on Russian energy as quickly as possible, which has led European countries to seek more expensive sources of energy just to avoid buying Russian gas.

One of the main alternatives found by Europe was the purchase of American gas. The high price of the commodity and the serious logistical and transportation difficulties have been frequent problems in energy cooperation between the EU and the US. However, the main directive of European governments is simply not to buy any Russian products, which is why, even though there is no strategic advantage in buying American gas, Europe has taken this initiative.

The European economic reality, however, puts the EU in a vicious cycle when it comes to anti-Russian sanctions. The more it needs to buy expensive American gas to keep its society functioning, the more Europe runs out of funds – which threatens the very continuity of energy cooperation with the US. So, the Europeans have no other alternative but to circumvent their own anti-Russian sanctions.

According to the Brussels-based think tank Bruegel, in the second quarter of 2024, Russia was responsible for supplying 17% of the gas consumed in Europe. European countries received around 12 billion cubic meters of Russian gas, slightly exceeding the American supply. Most of this gas reaches Europe via Belarus or Ukraine, but a significant portion of it also flows through the TurkStream undersea pipeline.

The Kiev regime has recently threatened to ban the flow of Russian gas through its territory, which has created serious tensions with countries such as Hungary and Slovakia – which, in addition to depending on Russian gas for their domestic supply, have maintained a dissident stance in Europe, condemning the irrational anti-Russian sanctions. Even if the ban actually occurs, the flow of gas through Belarus and Turkey is likely to increase, in addition to the fact that there are alternative routes in the Caucasus that can be used more frequently.

It is also important to emphasize that data on direct cooperation do not always reflect the reality of energy cooperation. In addition to Russian gas and oil being sent directly to Europe, Europeans also purchase it through third-party agents. Some countries buy Russian commodities and resell them at higher prices to European countries. This is the case of India, for example, which has profited from the resale of Russian oil to Europe. In the same vein, Turkey is reportedly reselling Russian gas to Europe. Even though they pay more in this type of scheme, some EU members prefer to do so simply to circumvent sanctions and not negotiate directly with Moscow.

This information only confirms what several experts have been warning since 2022: Europe will never become fully “independent” from Russia. Geography is the natural destiny of a state. Since Europe and Russia are geographically close, both need to learn how to deal strategically with each other. Trying to “isolate” Russia – which is the largest country in the world, in addition to being self-sufficient in energy and food – will only harm the European states themselves.

The US has always profited from sanctions. In addition to creating frictions between Russia and Europe, the Americans have managed to expand the business of their energy companies by exploiting Europe’s weakness. It is time for Europe to understand that this is a real geopolitical trap. The EU is being driven to bankruptcy by suicidal measures adopted due to the influence of Washington – which allegedly is a “partner” of Europe, but in reality deliberately boycotts European states to protect its interests of geopolitical hegemony.

Only cooperation with Russia can lead Europe to a future of stability and prosperity.

Is a “Cyber Pandemic” in Progress? Cyber Attacks Against Car Dealers and the Federal Reserve Put U.S. Economy at the Brink of Failure

Editors Note: This story hits home for me as I was in the car business for almost 20 years and as a former sales manager I can tell you firsthand how devastating this is for people. It’s not just the dealer principles who own the stores who are suffering, but it’s thousands of dealership employees as well! As a former salesman I can tell you what it’s like to fight for your money every month which is bad enough let alone having a problem like this one to deal with.

Most car dealers are no longer equipped to sell cars via pen and paper as the last 25 years have seen the elimination of paper and the addition of cloud servers. I remember an incident back in 2005 where someone at our dealership in WA state opened up an infected email that took down the ops of ALL of our dealerships including Las Vegas, North Dakota, South Dakota. I remember the owner at the time saying that he HATED all of this technology and that one day it could cripple the entire industry. He wanted to go back to paper reports and fax machines only but by then it was too late.

That was 2005 and now 19 years later what the owner told me then has come to pass. Nobody saw the cyber pandemic starting with the car dealers but here we are. I was one of the first to start reporting on it thanks to my wife’s canceled oil change appointment. I figured it would pass in a few days but here we are a month into it and as you’ll see in this article the end isn’t even in sight yet. My prayers go out to all of those affected by this attack.

While the U.S. media is currently focusing on politics with the upcoming presidential debate, as well as a slew of Supreme Court decisions that are being handed down today, there are other stories not making headlines that may indicate the U.S. economy might be on the brink of collapse.

In fact, the U.S. may be in the beginning stages of a “cyber pandemic” that the Globalists at the World Economic Forum have been predicting for the past few years, which they have said will be far more serious than the “COVID Pandemic” was.

For our previous coverage on the predicted “cyber pandemic” see:

WEF Warns Of Cyber Attack Leading To Systemic Collapse Of The Global Financial System

First, the auto industry has been in total disarray since last week when a cyber attack took down the main software system that is used by 15,000 dealerships nationwide to sell cars.

The software network is called CDK Global, and their CEO announced today that they do not plan to have their software system back up and running by the end of the month, which is striking terror into the hearts of car sales people all across the country, as the last few days of the month are typically their busiest selling days as they seek to increase their paychecks for the month with sales commissions.

This one single event alone could take down the U.S. economy.

One car dealer sales manager told CNN yesterday that “The financial impact it will directly have on us will take months to correct, if not years.”

A CDK Global system outage has affected nearly every aspect of the Mazda dealership in Seekonk, Massachusetts, where Ryan Callahan is general sales manager. He says it won’t be a simple fix.

“The financial impact it will directly have on us will take months to correct, if not years,” Callahan said.

Car buyers and dealers are grappling with the shutdown of the retail software provider, which has left nearly 15,000 car dealerships across North America struggling to provide services to customers and scrambling to find temporary analog solutions to operate. (Source.)

The CDK Global system has been used by car dealers to handle every aspect of the transaction of a vehicle, which includes automatically registering the car with the State’s government vehicle registry system, which is necessary for car owners to be able to drive their vehicles.

So dealers are now telling their customers to go directly to their local motor vehicle registry government office, which is overburdening DMV offices across the nation who are not staffed to handle such an influx of car owners.

Midway Automotive uses a CDK product to register cars with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Owner Michael Deveney says that after the shutdown on Wednesday, the dealership started sending customers to their local RMV office in order to register their cars in person after purchase.

“That was up until Thursday. Then customers started being told that (the RMV) wasn’t taking any walk-ins,” he said. “They were probably getting flooded with customers and started turning people away.”

Deveney said one customer got increasingly agitated because he couldn’t register his car. “Getting an appointment might take three or four days, and in that time they aren’t really able to drive their cars,” he added.

Some 30 miles north in Lynn, Katelyn Salvato says she hasn’t been able to register a vehicle since last Tuesday. Salvato works as a title clerk for Pride Motor Group, registering cars for three dealerships.

“Today… I sent 21 registrations to be done manually at the Massachusetts RMV,” she said, adding that the RMV won’t accept transactions from dealership employees. “The transactions must be dropped off within the designated hours (of 10 am to 3 pm), and the runner can’t wait for them.”

Callahan echoed those concerns. Under normal circumstances, the CDK software allows the dealership to register a vehicle almost instantaneously, but now the process faces heavy delays.

“Our remote registration system is rendered useless without CDK to talk to it. We’ve had to send a runner with the registrations to the DMV to be competed in packs, costing several days where prior it took hours,” Callahan said in an interview with CNN.

If a vehicle isn’t registered within seven days of purchase, the state penalizes both the dealership and customers.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which oversees the state’s RMV, has not responded to CNN’s request for comment. (Source.)

Here is a good 5-minute video from Bloomberg Television which explains the severity of this situation, which goes beyond the dealerships, and could also affect consumers who drive newer cars that are connected to the Internet. (I wouldn’t want to be driving a Tesla right now!!)

I found the comment that this is sending dealership employees “back to the stone age by having to use pen and paper” quite interesting, because how many younger adults in the workforce today even know how to use a pen and paper and do cursive writing??

The other big cyber attack story that is not yet headlines in the U.S. media, is a report that the Federal Reserve has been hacked by the infamous LockBit ransomware gang, threatening to reveal sensitive banking information about U.S. banks.

The group claims that they have obtained 33 terabytes of data from the U.S. Central Bank, and they gave U.S. officials a deadline of Tuesday night (last night at the time of this writing) to pay them off. They also claimed that the Federal Reserve had only paid them $50,000.00, which was not nearly enough.

At the time of this writing, they are reported to have made good on their threat so far by publishing some links, but so far nobody has been able to verify if they actually do have this data.

In spite of reportedly paying the group $50K so far, the Federal Reserve has yet to comment on this. LockBit is reported to have been behind 48% of the cyber attacks in 2023.

LockBit holds its word, publishes US Federal Reserve alleged data

On Tuesday, the LockBit ransomware gang published a massive cache of files allegedly stolen from the US Federal Reserve central banking system after an apparent negotiation breakdown.

The Russian-affiliated gang posted 21 separate links, containing files of what appears to be parent directories, torrents, and compressed archive files belonging to another US financial institution, Evolve Bank and Trust.

The bank and its parent company, Evolve Bancorp Inc., were singled out recently by the Feds for engaging in unsafe and unsound banking practices.

LockBit had named the Federal Reserve on its dark victim blog over the weekend, threatening to publish the purported stolen data on June 25th if a ransom demand was not paid by the deadline.

Claiming to have lifted “33 terabytes of juicy banking information containing Americans’ banking secrets,” the group also insinuated that negotiations had broken down over an unacceptable ransom offer by the US central bank.

“You better hire another negotiator within 48 hours, and fire this clinical idiot who values Americans’ bank secrecy at $50,000,” LockBit posted on its dark blog.

Cybernews reached out to the US Federal Reserve Board of Governors on Monday about LockBit’s claims, but the spokesperson did not comment. We reached out to the spokesperson again on Tuesday.

Meantime, Evolve Bank and Trust had been served a cease-and-desist order by the Federal Reserve Board this month, citing multiple “deficiencies” in the bank’s anti-money laundering, risk management, and consumer compliance programs.

Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, the independent consumer Banking-as-a-Service and mortgage lender serves individuals and small businesses in at least 17 states across the nation, listing assets of $1.3 billion in 2022, according to its website.

Evolve is also known for its open banking partnerships with Fintech platforms such as Mastercard, Visa, Affirm, Melio, Stripe, and Airwallex.

LockBit was kind enough to attach a Federal Reserve June 14th press release about the Evolve enforcement action as part of the ‘stolen’ collection.

Josh Jacobson, Director of Professional Services at HackerOne says the threats made by LockBit speak to the fact that “even our most integral governmental entities are not infallible to ransomware attacks.”

“If the Federal Reserve is impacted, that could have global implications. This is not a siloed infrastructure where a finite number of customers are impacted. The potential for residual impact definitely factors in, as well as long-term reputation and trust,” he said.

The Cybernews team, which has not had time to verify the stolen data, will continue to provide updates on this developing story. (Source.)

There are also multiple stories being reported about cyber attacks outside the U.S. today, especially in Indonesia:

More Than 40 Indonesian Agencies Hit by Cyberattack on Data Centres

JAKARTA (Reuters) – More than 40 Indonesian agencies, including the ministry overseeing immigration, were impacted by a cyberattack on the country’s data centres, an official said on Wednesday.

The latest cyberattack, the worst that the country has experienced in recent years, disrupted immigration services and affected operations at Indonesia’s major airports for days. (Full article.)

In other news published today, Pam Martens of Wall Street on Parade reported that the Federal Reserve has now posted historical losses of $176 billion since September of 2022.

The Fed Posts Historic Operating Losses As It Pays Out 5.40 Percent Interest to Banks

Monthly Operating Losses at Federal Reserve

According to Federal Reserve data, for the first time in its history, the Fed has been losing money on a consistent monthly basis since September 28, 2022. As of the last reporting date of June 19, 2024, those losses add up to a cumulative $176 billion. As the chart above using Fed data shows, the losses thus far in 2024 have ranged from a monthly high of $11.076 billion in February to a low of $5.674 billion in May.

These losses are separate and distinct from the unrealized losses the Fed is experiencing on the debt securities it holds on its balance sheet. It does not mark those losses to market since it intends to hold the securities to maturity and their principal is guaranteed at maturity by the U.S. government.

The losses shown in the above chart are actual cash operating losses that result from the fact that the Fed is earning significantly less interest on its debt securities than the high rates of interest the Fed is paying out to depository banks on their reserves held at the Fed; to mutual funds on its reverse repo operations; and in dividend payments to the banks that are shareowners of the 12 regional Fed banks. Supply Chain Backlogs are Back, Similar to What we Saw During COVID

Unfortunately, these cyber attacks are not the only bad news that is being reported today.

Due to the ongoing war in the Red Sea where the British and U.S. naval forces have been unable to defeat the Iran-backed Houthi rebels and reopen shipping lanes, there are now severe backlogs in the supply chain, which we have not seen since COVID.

‘It’s all happening again.’ The supply chain is under strain.

By Peter S. Goodman – The New York Times

Stephanie Loomis had hoped that the chaos besieging the global supply chain was subsiding. The floating traffic jams off ports. The multiplying costs of moving freight. The resulting shortages of goods. All of this had seemed like an unpleasant memory confined to the COVID-19 pandemic.

No such luck.

As head of ocean freight for the Americas at Rhenus Logistics, a company based in Germany, Loomis spends her days negotiating with international shipping carriers on behalf of clients moving products and parts around the globe. Over the past few months, she has watched cargo prices soar as a series of disturbances have roiled the seas.

Late last year, Houthi rebels in Yemen began firing on ships entering the Red Sea en route to the Suez Canal, a vital artery for vessels moving between Asia, Europe and the East Coast of the United States. That prompted ships to avoid the waterway, instead moving the long way around Africa, lengthening their journeys by as much as two weeks.

Then, a severe drought in Central America dropped water levels in the Panama Canal, forcing authorities to limit the number of ships passing through that crucial conduit for international trade.

In recent weeks, dockworkers have threatened to strike on the East and Gulf coasts of the United States, while longshore workers at German ports have halted shifts in pursuit of better pay. Rail workers in Canada are poised to walk off the job, imperiling cargo moving across North America and threatening backups at major ports like Vancouver, British Columbia.

The intensifying upheaval in shipping is prompting carriers to lift rates while raising the specter of waterborne gridlock that could again threaten retailers with product shortages during the make-or-break holiday shopping season. The disruption could also exacerbate inflation, a source of economic anxiety animating the U.S. presidential election.

If the supply chain disturbances of the pandemic proved anything, it was this: Trouble in any one place tends to ripple out widely.

A container full of chemicals that arrives late to its destination spells delayed production for factories waiting for those ingredients. Ships jammed at ports wreak havoc on the flow of goods, clogging warehouses and putting pressure on the trucking and rail industries.

“I’m lovingly calling the market now ‘COVID junior,’ because in a lot of ways we’re right back to where we were during the pandemic,” Loomis said. “It’s all happening again.”

Since October, the cost of moving a 40-foot shipping container from China to Europe has increased to about $7,000, from an average of roughly $1,200, according to data compiled by Xeneta, a cargo analytics company based in Norway. That is well below the $15,000 peak reached in late 2021, when supply chain disruptions were at their worst, but it is about five times the prices that prevailed for the years leading up to the pandemic.

Rates to ship goods across the Pacific have multiplied by a similar magnitude. It now costs more than $6,700 to transport a 40-foot container from Shanghai to Los Angeles and nearly $8,000 for Shanghai to New York. As recently as December, those costs were near $2,000.

“We haven’t seen the peak yet,” said Peter Sand, Xeneta’s chief analyst. (Full article.)

As a business owner myself who imports about 50% of what my online store sells, I can verify that the ports have been very clogged for weeks now.

Our last shipment of Virgin Coconut Oil from the Philippines was held up for weeks, because the USDA all of a sudden changed the required paperwork that was needed to import USDA certified organic products.

We were never notified of this change, and it went into effect AFTER our container shipped from Manila, but it still took weeks to clear customs, and phone calls to our 2 U.S. Senators and our U.S. House Representative to get everything cleared through the USDA and FDA.

Our shipping broker told us this was being experienced by most companies trying to clear customs last month. And this is in addition to all the other problems reported by the New York Times article today.

The entire supply chain in the U.S. is in very serious trouble right now, and I am not exaggerating when I write that the U.S. economy is on the brink of collapse.

If more cyber attacks hit like the one that hit CDK Global last week which threatens to bring down the entire auto industry, America will fall without a single shot being fired at us by our “enemies,” of which the United States has MANY today.

Is this the beginning of the “Cyber Pandemic”?

Tips to Protect Yourself from Cyber Attacks

I have been warning our readers since the end of 2022 that the Big Tech crash is coming, and because the U.S. is the most tech-dependent country in the world, that also makes us the most vulnerable to cyber attacks.

While online backup systems in the Cloud have become very popular in recent years, please make sure that you also have all of your data stored on an “air-gapped” computer or hard drive that is NOT connected to the Internet. I keep one backup hard drive in my fire-proof safe, for example.

Secondly, be very careful about emails you receive asking you for passwords or to login somewhere to change a password, and NEVER click on these links.

Third, log into your bank account DAILY to monitor your accounts for cyber theft, preferably from a laptop or desktop computer, and NOT your mobile device.

Biden administration to declare a “Climate Emergency” to bypass Congress

climate people street crowd

Constitution??? What constitution? It’s dead and this would just put another nail in the coffin of Murica.

According to recent mainstream media reports, the White House is debating whether to declare a “climate emergency”, which would grant Joe Biden “dictatorial”, Covid-style emergency powers “by which to bypass democracy and impose the Green New Deal”—as explained by former U.S. congressional staffer and author of ‘The Great Reset’, Marc Morano.

Prayed up and prepped up! It gets worse from here.

Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse: Rescue efforts underway as sonar detects cars in the water

Some people are speculating already by saying it was asymmetrical warfare being done on the USA, as it effectively blocks the harbor from all shipping. This will be a huge economic blow to the USA in many ways. Heres more from NBC Boston.

A container ship rammed into a major bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, early Tuesday, causing it to snap in several places and plunge into the river below. Several vehicles fell into the chilly waters, and rescuers were searching for at least seven people.

Two people were pulled from the waters under the Francis Scott Key Bridge, one in serious condition, according to Baltimore Fire Chief James Wallace.

The cargo ship appears to have crashed into one of the bridge’s supports during the middle of night when traffic would be expected to be lighter, according to a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The vessel caught fire, and thick, black smoke billowed out of it.

“Never would you think that you would see, physically see, the Key Bridge tumble down like that. It looked like something out of an action movie,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, calling it “an unthinkable tragedy.”

The fire chief said authorities “may be looking for upwards of seven people” but said that number could change. It was not clear if the two rescued were included in the seven.

Wallace said it’s a “dynamic count” that they have not nailed down yet, as the search and rescue operation continues

Earlier, Kevin Cartwright, director of communications for the Baltimore Fire Department, said that several vehicles were on the bridge at the time, including one the size of a tractor-trailer truck.

He called the collapse a “developing mass casualty event,” though he didn’t know at the time how many people were affected.

Cartwright added that some cargo appeared to be dangling from the bridge, which spans the Patapsco River, a vital artery that sees more than 30,000 cars a day. Along with the Port of Baltimore, it is a hub for shipping on the East Coast. Opened in 1977, the bridge is named for the writer of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

While the collision occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, video captured moments before the ship hit the bridge showed several cars crossing it and then crumbling to the water below as the structure buckled.

In a radio transmission to the Baltimore Fire Department, an official can be heard saying, “The entire bridge, the entire Key bridge is in the water.”

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore declared a state of emergency and said he was working to get federal resources deployed. The FBI was also on the scene.

“We are thankful for the brave men and women who are carrying out efforts to rescue those involved and pray for everyone’s safety,” Moore said in a statement. Seven out of 10 pills on the illegal market contains a deadly dose of fentanyl

Yes you read that correctly. 7 out of 10 pills on the black market are deadly! According to the DEA, the drug dealers don’t care if they kill off some clients. Their goal is to keep you addicted, and fentanyl is the most addictive drug on the market today.

It reminds me of Revelation 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Sorceries is the key word here as it translates to Pharmakea in the Greek, which is where we get the word pharmacy.

As you can here in the clip above the people get addicted to this crap fast and then no, they won’t repent.

The arrogance and foolish pride of many businesses like the auto industry is now coming back to haunt them. Many dealers are collapsing under the weight of debt as consumers are all tapped out.

The end of this system is near. Repent and seek Jesus Christ now! Time is running out!
