Why America’s Wounds Can’t Be Healed

It gives me no pleasure to write things like this but it’s part of my calling, to call out sin where and when I see it and America is full of it (sin).
2 Chronicles 7:14 is a scripture that’s quoted by the American liberty movement quite often. It says that if we humble ourselves, seek God and turn from our wicked ways that He will heal our land. That sounds great right? Why don’t we get right on that? How would we do that as a nation? What would that look like? We can get a glimpse of it by going back to the Old Testament.
This story is found in Jonah 1:1-2, where God asked Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach against it because of its wickedness before God. Unlike his previous experience where he ran away and ended up inside a whale, this time he obeyed. Jonah preached of the coming judgment to the city of Nineveh (Jonah 3:4), to which they responded from the greatest to the least, by believing God, fasting, and putting on sackcloth (Jonah 3:5).
How many people in America can we get to do those things? How many could we get to even HUMBLE themselves? That is America’s giant Achilles heel, PRIDE. God hates pride. He rails against it in many different scriptures Want proof? Check out these scriptures against PRIDE. Which brings me to our current President of the United States, Donald J Trump.
The media tried to warn us about the kind of man Donald Trump really was but everyone jumped on the “fake news” catchphrase and bandwagon. I admit it was refreshing hearing someone put the media whores in the place but it was all based on emotions. Even the “libtard” Huffington Post got the truth out to us back in July 2016 but because of the source, no one listened. You can read the rest of the article here, but I’ll post some highlights below.
Jesus: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you.”
Trump: “When people wrong you, go after those people, because it is a good feeling and because other people will see you doing it. I always get even.”
Jesus: “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Trump: “Why do I have to repent, why do I have to ask for forgiveness if [I’m] not making mistakes?”
And finally the coup de grace
Jesus: “Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Trump: “Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest — and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault.”
How are we supposed to humble ourselves from the greatest to the least when we have a President and leaders like this? Our President is the personification of foolish pride and self aggrandizement. He is the symbol of victory for many in the Evangelical community despite all of the evidence they’ve been shown. He is the ultimate sheep in wolves clothing.
Humbling ourselves, prayer and seeking God’s face is what we as believers should be doing on a daily basis. But we are a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9) so the world at large will continue to not understand. Unless one is born again spiritually it is impossible to understand God’s word and His ways. I would LOVE IT if we could make 2 Chronicles 7:14 work for the WORLD, not just America. Sadly our foolish pride will keep it from happending.
God bless and remember, seek first the kingdom everyday and everything else will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33).
