Festival of Shadows: Why Honoring Hanukkah Is a Denial of Christ

cookies for hanukkah

I had been prompted by the Holy Spirit to do this video awhile ago, probably a month or so ago but I delayed knowing how much controversy it would generate. I can delay no longer as I’m losing fellowship with more and more people over the subject of Jewish feasts and festivals and whether or not they’re required to be kept by Christians today. Personally I believe God’s word when it says this in Colossians 2:16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

As for Hanukkah and why its a denial of Christ, that’s in the video. The link to the blog I read from is below the video. God bless you all, I pray that this helps those who are confused like I was.

Oh and for those who are already falsely accusing me of celebrating Christmas instead, here are a couple of articles on how I feel about that pagan holiday. First one click HERE, second one click HERE.

  • You were definitely prompted by a spirit…and it wasn’t God’s spirit.

Hello….Jesus was born during the Feast of Tabernacles….backtrack to the time of his conception, and it takes you right to Hanukkah. When he said at John 8:12 that he is the light of the world, Hanukkah was approaching. The true light from Heaven entered into the world of mankind on the darkest day of the year.

If Hanukkah is so pagan, then please explain why Christ referred to Hanukkah in Math 24:15-20, when he spoke of the Abomination that lays waste ‘as spoke of by the Daniel the prophet’…prophecies which were fulfilled via Antiochus Ephiphanes IV entering into the Temple and desocrating it with idols and the blood of swine…when Christ referred to Daniel’s prophecy in his Olivet Prophecy, the very first thing his apostles would have called to mind was Hanukkah, and this is also what Paul refers to in 2 Thess Ch2/the falling away,……if you want to know what that falling away looks like, study the history of Hanukkah, and you’ll quickly realize that it looks like as many are so deceived that they have already fallen away from the true faith of Christ, and they don’t even realize it…..if you knew what the falling away looks like, you wouldn’t be saying what you’re saying in this blog post.

Colossians 2:16 is one of the most common verse of all of Paul’s letters that Christians completely take out of context…there’s the word ‘context’…take the ‘text’ out of ‘context’, and you end up with the word ‘con’=trickery, deceit. So, what was Paul, in the context of his letter, talking about?

Col 2:4: Paul warned the Christians to let no one fool you with specious arguments
Col 2:8: Paul warned the Christians not be taken captive by means of the philosophy of men.
The greek translates these means as ‘heathens, unbelievers’…those outside the body of Christ, who were trying to sway them away from the faith.

And now, when when we come to Col 2:16: Paul is exhorting not to let heathens, unbelievers, who are outside of the body of Christ, to judge you/pass judgement on you in relations to New Moons, Sabbaths, Jewish Feast, and Feast Days…..for these are things that God has commanded his children to keep, and they are a shadow of what is to come. This is why even the prophet Isaiah tells us in Isaiah 66:23 that all flesh will worship God from One New Moon to another, and 1 Sabbath to another…

Your post/video is just another example of Peter’s warning to us in 2 Pet 3:16-17 of people who are uninstructed and unstable ‘in the scriptures’ twist to their own destruction, because the only Scriptures Peter and Paul had at that time was the very scriptures you choose to ignore…….

    • I don’t agree and the video tells a lot more than just the one verse you chose to pick out. Watch the video and/or read the blog I linked to below it and then come back when you have the full picture. There is no command by God to follow Hanukkah but if you’d watched the video you’d know that already. Why would you celebrate a temple that was destroyed and honor a religion that denies Christ, is dead and has no temple or priesthood? You can’t follow the law of Moses anymore and why would you want to? Are you planning on stoning people to death for adultery or violating the Sabbath as well?

      • You must not believe Jesus then when He said that He didn’t come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. Oh that’s right, you guys like to leave that part out. You also don’t like Galatians 3 or Hebrews 11 or Romans 4 or Genesis 15 which all show that righteousness comes by FAITH, not by the law!

      • If the Law is still binding on us today, then it has not yet accomplished its purpose—it has not yet been fulfilled. If the Law, as a legal system, is still binding on us today, then Jesus was wrong in claiming to fulfill it and His sacrifice on the cross was insufficient to save. Thank God, Jesus fulfilled the whole Law and now grants us His righteousness as a free gift. “Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:16).

  • Amen Brother Johnny!!!! Speak the truth!!!! God’s Holy Spirit in you exposes the darkness for what it truly is!! Glory unto God in the Highest!!!!
