What does it mean that Jesus fulfilled the law, but did not abolish it?

Today I will address the Hebrew Roots movement and why it’s not Biblical at all. They are adding burdens to the gospel of Christ and it needs to be confronted. I’ve even had these folks try to convince me that Jesus Christ wouldn’t have known His name in English or Greek when He was here the first time. To me that’s quite the insult to the Almighty God, who is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end! (Revelation 22:13) Some tell me that since I use the English name for Jesus that I’m condemned, that only His Hebrew name is allowed. Others like the 7th day Adventists tell me that worshiping on Sunday is the mark of the beast, not the jabs (they actually support the jabs) and on and on it goes.

By the way I do my praise and worship on Saturdays (and everyday!) as God intended but not because it’s written on a tablet of stone, but because He asked me to honor Him with my rest when I prayed on it in earnest a few years ago. I am guided by my relationship with Jesus, not by a religion or the Mosaic laws.

The HRM also show their ignorance of history as Greek was the main language spoken around Nazareth and in Israel in general and it was the language in which the New Testament was written. In fact Hebrew wasn’t a living language with the Israelites at the time, it was Aramaic. Hebrew was studied and spoken by the elites and the religious scholars, not the common folks. Of course Jesus knew Hebrew and studied the scrolls but the difference was that He actually UNDERSTOOD (being the Son of God after all) them which is how He confounded the Pharisees. Now onto the video.

Hebrews 8:10: For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Romans 2:14-15: For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them.

I also recommend reading Galatians 3 and Romans 7 and 8 as well. I present all of this to you in love, not in condemnation. I pray that anyone who is confused or trapped by this doctrine be made FREE BY THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST! AMEN AND AMEN! God bless you all! Johnny

  • I’m just a simple man, nothing more. How is this reconciled with the scripture that says that he who doesn’t bear fruit (works?) will be burned like tares separated from the wheat?

    • Me to Robert (Simple man), but I’m not getting your question. (How is what reconciled ??) with the scriptures. Am I missing something from the story ?? I don’t see any correlation between your question and the story. I just wanted to know your thoughts about it. Thank you Robert, Blessing to you and yours (+)

  • Thank you for your input. (trying to make this brief) In the attached video here, Johnny states at the 1:14 timestamp, “but we’re justified by faith, not by works and not by the law.” OK, and he cites biblical text in Galatians 3 & Roman 6. I then consider Mathew 13:36-43 per the parable of the wheat and tares which MAY be construed as being pertinent to possible dire consequences of not producing works/fruit. (or are works/fruit determinants of rewards, not salvation?). In the faith community there is a push and pull over the question of salvation being based solely on belief in Christ’s death, burial, Resurrection and acceptance of the sacrificial Blood of Christ (which may even be ALLEGEDLY UNDERMINED by prideful & boastful (?) reliance/display of “works”. In fairness this camp says it’s not a “license” to sin, as those truly saved will feel compelled to at least not want to sin by the presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
The other camp says no, you not only have to accept the sacrificial Blood of Christ and believe in His death, burial and three day Resurrection by God, but ALSO you have to continually live in works to fulfill salvation. I think it may be fair to say that camp views that “works” are a “co-qualifier” (?) for salvation and a “validation” (?) of salvation and not a determinant of rewards. I see that both sides can quote scripture to support their stance and frankly my low gigabyte brain is short circuited by the whole debate. Plus the stakes here are not to be taken lightly. Blessings.

  • Well, you got that right Robert. (The Stakes are not to be taken lightly) … Lets say you went into the mountains and lived as Monk. You still would fall short in the eyes of the Lord God. Reason being; your in the Flesh. … When asked about how to talk to the Father in Heaven; Jesus answered and said: The Lords Prayer. “Our Father who are in Heaven” ( That’s literal, Robert) Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins of the world. (Who did he pay ??) The devil has legal title to our soul, until we realize what our sin actually is. (I’m trying to make it as simple as possible, OK) … Because we live in the Flesh, we will always sin. That’s where “Repentance” come into play. … (Wheat / Tares) The Tares will never “Repent”, They think; They’re good to go. Some you may consider to be nice people. They go to church for an hr, listen to the sermon, eat their cookie, and go on with life doing whatever, Never giving the thought about what their “Crime” / “Sin” actually is. (Because the churches will never tell you) … A few years back, I was in church and the priest was talking about how they found the grave of Peter. They know this because there were no feet on the bones. And they made it into a holy site. … That was it, nothing more about it. … I felt like screaming: Hello, excuse me Mr Priest, AND !!! Where’s / what’s the rest of the story ?? (Its a Great one, in the Acts of Peter) Jesus had given Peter the “Keys” to Heaven. (Upon this Rock, I will build my church) … Peter gets caught and is Crucified. (He tell the guards, He wants to be hung upside down) The people want to revolt against the king, Peter says: don’t be made at the king, he’s only doing the will of his father / the devil. … He goes on and says: “Unless you make the things of the right, the things of the left and thing of the left the things right, The things of the bottom, the things of the top, the things of the back, the things of the front. You will have No knowledge of the Kingdom of Heaven of our Lord God Father in Heaven.” (This is more important than his bones, don’t you Think ??) … Peter was telling everyone: This world is upside down and backwards and not what we were taught to believe it is. … That is where we have to realize and say / Beg: Oh my Lord God my Father in Heaven, I’m so sorry for turning my back on you. Please forgive me, have mercy on me for the “Sin” I have committed against you. (Repent) … (That’s where the devil Lied to the Lord God children and said we could be creators of our own life – (Free Will) and That was our 1st death) our 2nd death will be put into hell, as we all deserve because of our “Sin”. Jesus didn’t die, the most horrible death because we told a lie, stole, cheated, even murder. (All can be forgiven, Sins of the flesh) … We don’t belong here Robert, that’s why to some, this world never made any sense. Jesus said: My kingdom is Not of this world. (People that were with Jesus and seen his works and believed his message, weren’t afraid of death (Eaten by lions) … But our Father Loved us so much, he came to recuse those who came to the knowledge of their mistake. Its the Greatest Love story of all time Robert. … and because we’re of the Lord God Father in Heaven (We try Not to “Sin” / do things that are wrong and Repent when we do, because we’re in the Flesh) … I hope I did (made sense) to your question. … Blessing to you and your Robert (+)
PS, If you feel I’m wrong or not making sense, please let me know (+)

  • Interesting perspective. There can be no doubt repentance is needed inasmuch as the word “repent” is mentioned in the new testament 57 times, not for nothing. Repentance is core.

I upset myself grappling with how some faith cohorts view works differently. Some regard it as a basis for heavenly rewards, with purely acceptance of the Blood and resurrection being the sole foundation of salvation, giving the Blood 100% credit for same and that we just can’t do anything to earn even a little bit of our salvation. Another faith cohort says works must accompany acceptance of the Blood and resurrection for salvation and that works prove the faith is real. I ask Heavenly Father for discernment. I humbly think if we faithfully accept the Blood and resurrection, we’re well on the right track. I grieve that so many are not. Just today I ran into a former co-worker and his wife and gave a simple testimony for Christ and I got the impression it didn’t go over well. We’re in the end times and testimony is needed, especially now. Reprising what you’re saying now, this world is weighing heavily. From what you say, I do get the feeling we’re close in thought.

    • I don’t have answers, but experience. Funny thing about repentance is when you stop doing the “thing” the desire for it also goes away & one can be thankful along with it for a lesson learned. 🙂

  • Johnny wanted to start a fellowship meeting. … I think its a great idea because I know, when I try and talk to people about my experiences and views they may not come across in the typed / spoken words as I wish they would. That’s when your sitting around having discussions about different views what the scriptures say or mean. … I agree; We’re on the right track Robert, we’re talking about the Lord God our Father in Heaven, That’s more than most people (like your co-worker) They don’t want to hear it. … (In John) When they were going to stone Jesus, and talked about how he was a man making himself a God. (They got it backwards) and they were talking about the God of Abraham, Jesus said: I knew Abraham before he was born you clowns. (How could Jesus know him, if Abraham wasn’t even born yet ??) They went crazy; and Jesus said: The Scriptures say: “All of you are children of the Most High God” , all of you are gods; I’m just saying I’m the son of the Father in Heaven; and if the scriptures cannot be broken, … They went crazy and Jesus Disappeared. … I think the word “God” in the Bible is to describe certain groups of people / beings. (Wheat and the Tares) People created by the Lord God Father in Heaven are described as Magistrates, Judges, (Angles), Where as the Tares are described as people of the earth. Wanting earthly things and doing as they please and they want nothing to do with our Father in Heaven. (Why else would the Lord God have to “Mark” Cain, because he was afraid of the “Others”when he was cast for the Garden) Who were those others, where did they come from ?? Wasn’t Cain the 1st born ?? Wouldn’t he have known everyone on earth at the time ?? … Like I said Robert (Its a little complicated for me to explain without people going crazy before they truly understand what I’m talking about). I guess I believe we have the Spirit of the Lord God within us, and the others from the earth can see us for who we truly are, and do everything they can to steal that light by mistreating, lying, stealing from us. (To keep us down) … Don’t worry what others say about being Redeemed, or getting Heavenly reward (Or to expect them) … All I actually ask for is the Forgiveness of our Lord God Father in Heaven for sinning against him. Thank you Robert for your time and discussion, Blessing to you and yours (+)

  • Yes, Brother in Christ, I understand your feelings about sharing faith matters with the poor unsaved. Very recently I put another proclamation of faith on You-Tube, that time proclaiming that Christ was coming soon in the clouds for Rapture. I expected harsh incoming, questioning my sanity and I wasn’t disappointed. There are supernatural articles of faith that irritate unsaved, to whom it is difficult to decide how to present, and I frankly admit I don’t perfectly understand everything in the Bible. However, I accept same as the true word of the infallible One True God. Yesterday, my wife and I were distressed with the news that the Pope will bless unscriptural marriages. We long have stopped attending Catholic Mass, although maintaining strong faith in God. I (very imperfect) have many problems with organized religion, not with the faith. I remember Johnny some months past posted a video about Catholic clergy attending a “Chrislam” meeting with Muslim clergy and I was very distressed. What a mixed up world. See you in heaven soon, Brother.

  • Christ Jesus wrote the law of love in our hearts, a spiritual gift. The first two of the 10 Commandments are laws of love that we need to actually DO. Big question: Is Israel acting in love?
