Is Donald Trump Intent Upon Imposing Martial Law in America?

History
In 1936, the Nazi dictatorship in Germany organized SiPo, or Sicherheitspolizei.
The move merged the Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei) and the Kriminalpolizei (Kripo, the criminal police). SiPo targeted political opposition to the Nazis, primarily communists and socialists.
In early 1941, the Wehrmacht chief of staff Franz Halder targeted unarmed socialists and communists. It used the Einsatzgruppen death squads to murder them.
“Entire hordes of communists are now being shot and hanged on an almost daily basis,” Second Lieutenant Peter Geissler of the 714th Infantry Division wrote home in July, 1941.
“I cannot help feeling that the panic fear of the Western world of the term communism, this fear by which the fascists have so long maintained themselves, is somewhat superstitious and childish and one of the greatest follies of our epoch,” wrote Thomas wrote after the war.

Is Folly Emerging in America under the Rule of President Donald Trump?
On October 8, the Trump administration held a briefing on Antifa, the autonomous and decentralized anti-fascist political movement. During this meeting, the MAGA influencer Jonathan Choe linked Antifa to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
“Another group right now that is behind antifa and working with antifa very closely based on the research that we have right now that we’re gonna give to you and your team are the Democratic Socialists of America,” Choe said. He argued that Antifa is part of what he called the “homeless complex.”

Trump considers his political opponents, who are primarily Democrats, to be not only socialists, but also communists, Marxists, fascists, and, most tellingly, “enemies from within.”
Last October, he said the
“crazy lunatics that we have—the fascists, the Marxists, the communists, the people that we have that are actually running the country…
Those people are more dangerous—the enemy from within—than Russia and China and other people.”
More recently, during a military conclave at Marine Corps Base Quantico, in Virginia, Trump insisted the United States is “under invasion from within. No different than a foreign enemy, but more difficult in many ways because they don’t wear uniforms. At least when they’re wearing a uniform you can take them out.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Trump administration will use the same tactic it is using against Venezuelan fishermen, falsely accused of being “narcoterrorists.”
In short, murdering political enemies without arrest and due process. “Just like we did with cartels” Bondi said,
“we’re going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa. Destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We’re going to take them apart.”
Former US Navy intelligence officer and alt-right activist Jack Posobiec said during the roundtable that Antifa “has been going on for almost 100 years … going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany.” Posobiec appears to be saying that the anti-fascist movement aligned against Hitler and the Nazis was a bad thing.
“If you’ll remember, those were the people taking issue with the early versions of the Nazis,” writes Holly Baxter. “But it’s sort of difficult to position yourself as the good guys if you’re aligning yourself with the Nazis in your historical analogy.”
Kristi Noem, Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security, added that the non-organization of Antifa is determined to “destroy the American people and their way of life” and has “infiltrated our entire country,” from “city to city,” a ludicrous assertion considering the Trump administration is unable to provide evidence that the organization even exists. Noem added that Antifa is “just as dangerous” as MS-13, ISIS, Hezbollah, and Hamas. Her priority is “making sure they never see the light again.”
Because the Trump administration will have a difficult time destroying Antifa—due to its lack of structure, command hierarchy, or leader, in short because it does not exist as an organization—it will instead concentrate on visible targets such as George Soros and the Democratic Socialists of America.
It should be noted that Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, both members of the Democratic Party, were DSA members. House of Representatives member Rashida Tlaib is also associated with the DSA, as is Cori Bush, the US representative for the 1st congressional district of Missouri. Zohran Mamdan, a contender for mayor of New York City, is a DSA member.
Targeting Progressive Organizations
Following the roundtable on Antifa, MAGA supporters went on social media and added targets to the Trump list of “extremists” compared to ISIS, including
- Young Democratic Socialists of America (described as the “polite face” of Antifa),
- The National Lawyers Guild,
- Act Blue,
- Code Pink,
- The Alliance for Global Justice.
In short, virtually all progressive groups opposed to Trump and MAGA Republicans.
Trump’s roundtable on Antifa may result in an American version of the Reichstag Fire Decree that disabled the civil liberties of German citizens.
The decree was used to imprison and ultimately murder those opposed to the fascist government of Hitler and the Nazis. The decree made it “permissible to restrict the rights of personal freedom, freedom of (opinion) expression, including the freedom of the press, the freedom to organize and assemble, the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications.”
During the October 8 roundtable, Trump boasted that his administration “took the freedom of speech away, because that’s been through the courts, and the courts said you have freedom of speech but what has happened is when they burn the flag it agitates and irritates crowds.” He said this despite the fact the Supreme Court ruled in 1989 (Texas v. Johnson) that laws prohibiting flag desecration violate free speech rights.
In May of 2025, the US Supreme Court ruled that Trump had violated the due process rights of Venezuelan migrants when “he tried to expedite deportations to an infamous El Salvador prison using a wartime authority,” according to Courthouse News Service. In response, Vice President JD Vance suggested suspending due process rights, a violation of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution.
Towards A Martial Law Declaration?
In a move indicating Trump is serious about “taking out” his political enemies, he threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act when a federal judge prevented him from sending troops, in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, to Portland, Oregon to counter anti-ICE protests.
The Insurrection Act provides a statutory exception to Posse Comitatus, which limits the federal government from sending troops to enforce civil and criminal law. According to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Trump has “plenary authority” to invoke the Insurrection Act.
“Trump continues to test the limits of his power, and now he is doing so with respect to the military,” writes John Feffer. “He is doing so either to govern just short of a martial law declaration—or in preparation to make that declaration at some future date… He is using the immigration issue as a pretext to expand his control over public institutions and legitimate the unconstitutional suppression of the freedoms of speech and assembly.”
America is one false flag or actual terrorist event away from the imposition of martial law, the roundup of not only immigrants, but also those who oppose his administration. During his first term, then national security adviser Michael Flynn urged the president “to exercise the Extraordinary Powers of his office and declare limited Martial Law to temporarily suspend the Constitution,” noted William Arkin.
Flynn made the remark in 2021, but the sentiment remains today as Trump orders troops to Portland and Chicago, ostensibly to contain violent crime and protests at Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities. Federal troops have escalated violence against protesters, most recently in Chicago’s Brighten Park when a woman was shot five times.
In another incident, Department of Homeland Security agents shot a nonviolent Presbyterian pastor in the head with a pepper ball during a demonstration outside an ICE facility in Broadview in Chicago.
