FBI Orders Banks to Flag Purchases Tied to Religion or MAGA
The FBI, U.S. Treasury & Joe Biden have even weaponized Americans’ own banks against US, ordering them to search & flag people for things like reading religious texts (eg Bible) or having MAGA in description of payments. I join Alison Steinberg on OAN to sound the alarm.
- A House panel is investigating allegations that the federal government flagged financial transactions involving terms like “Trump” or “MAGA.”
- The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government claims financial institutions were advised to flag transactions with these phrases.
- Transactions at stores like Cabela’s or Dick’s Sporting Goods, or those involving religious texts like the Bible, may have also been flagged.
- The committee, led by Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, seeks interviews with Peter Sullivan from the FBI and Noah Bishoff from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
- FinCEN reportedly sent guidelines to financial institutions on “typologies” of interest to the government, including terms like “TRUMP” and “MAGA” for transaction monitoring.
- FinCEN warned of “extremism” indicators, including transportation charges and purchases of books or media containing extremist views.
- FinCEN also distributed slides showing merchandise codes potentially used by violent extremists, such as codes for firearms or sporting goods.
- Rep. Jim Jordan highlighted the government’s flagging of transactions involving terms like “MAGA” and “TRUMP,” as well as purchases of religious texts or from specific stores.
- The Treasury Department declined to comment on these allegations.
- The letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray disclosed that Bank of America provided the FBI with a list of individuals transacting in Washington, D.C., around January 5-7, 2021, without legal process.
- FBI personnel reportedly contacted Bank of America with specific search queries, including transactions in Washington D.C. and purchases related to firearms or travel.
- The FBI’s Office of Private Sector prepared a report characterizing certain political beliefs as indicative of domestic violent extremism.
- These beliefs included issues surrounding firearm legislation, immigration restrictions, and discontent with COVID-19 measures.
- The sweeping characterization of political beliefs and constitutionally protected speech as extremism indicators is likened to the FBI’s past characterization of traditional Catholics as potential terrorists.
