Understanding Magenblase Syndrome: My Journey to Diagnosis

I had 2 specialists see me yesterday as a new doctor had come on board and I stumped both of them.

No, I’m not saying that to brag, but it represents two of the biggest problems I see in the medical field which are lack of communication and refusing to look outside of the box. I am very grateful that the gastroenterologist has been willing to work with me as I keep doing research on my magenblase syndrome aka extreme belching. He has been willing to look at natural alternatives instead of turning to the usual “shotgun with medication” approach. In fact he prefers I not be on any medication which has been refreshing.

Since he had never heard of magenblase syndrome before (neither had the other doctor) I handed him my phone with the links pulled up. He proceeded to take notes and also to look up the condition in their huge database. It wasn’t there! This condition is fairly new and Europe has more studies on it than we have here in America. In fact magenblase is German for stomach bubble which is what shows up on the xrays. When the doctors saw the xray example and that mine looked identical to the examples they were blown away.

One direction we are going to go in are the food sensitivity tests that one of you recommended in the comments! It will be even more detailed than the test they wanted $700 for and praise God it will be FREE through the VA medical system. Once we have those test results we may have things even more narrowed down as to the ROOT CAUSE of magenblase syndrome. Like I said in my last post trying to treat this condition can definitely be “an exercise in frustration”, just like one of the studies said in the abstract.

One natural product I started using about 6 weeks ago is Enzymedica Dairy Assist which are 2 enzymes combined to help me digest dairy and protein. They contain lactase and protease digestive enzymes to help me digest both dairy products and protein.

I know what you’re thinking, why would I be using dairy products with my condition? Well it’s because I use a whey based protein shake for breakfast with 2 raw eggs blended in. I used to tolerate those very well but now it can activate a magenblase attack (extreme belching) so I decided to try this supplement. It works great! Now I don’t have to throw out my expensive protein shakes, I can actually use them and now absorb them properly.

Speaking of absorbing things properly one way you can tell is to look at your stools in the toilet before flusing. Are they floating or did they sink to the bottom? Floating poop is often caused by excess gas in the stool, which can result from dietary factors such as high-fiber or high-fat foods. Fermentation of unabsorbed carbohydrates in the colon can also release gas, contributing to buoyancy. In some cases, floating stools may indicate malabsorption, a condition where the body fails to properly absorb nutrients, including fat. This can be associated with conditions like celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, or chronic pancreatitis.

Sinking poop is considered normal and is typically solid and well-formed. It suggests a balanced diet and proper digestion, with minimal excess gas or fat in the stool. This is where mine has been since I started taking the enzymes and remain strict in my diet that consists mostly of protein like the carnavore or Atkins diets. I do use greens from the Peoples Chemist in order to keep my immune system up, but I cut the serving size in half due to my gut issues.

At the end of the day I’m really glad that my research may now help others with my same condition. The specialists were grateful for the research because now when they encounter this in the field they will have some answers for folks like me who are suffering from this horrible condition. There can be different underlying causes but one thing is for certain, your gut health is so important as it affects EVERYTHING in your body including your moods, so take care of it like your life depended on it because it does!

Oh last but not least I must disclose the fact that as an Amazon affiliate I earn a small commission on products I have linked in this post. It doesn’t cost you anything, Amazon just gives me a small cut.

Blessings to you! Have a great weekend!

FINALLY A DIAGNOSIS FOR MY GUT ISSUES!!!

This is from my blog over on Substack called Don’t Speak Health, health news we’re not supposed to speak about. I’m reposting it here today because I’ve had a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH with my gut issues and I wanted to share my joy with all of you here as well.

Disclaimer: This article is not intended to provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

It’s called Maganblase and like I said above I’ve never heard about it until yesterday and I didn’t get the news from the Medical Doctors, I got the answer from my Chiropractor!

That makes sense because he is an unbiased doctor coming into the picture with a fresh perspective, whereas the medical doctors had already thrown their hands up and had given up on me. They could tell me that I had slow digestion but beyond that they had no answers.

As I was telling the Chiropractor about the issues I’ve been having with my guts the last few days he asked me if I had ever heard of Maganblase. I said no I haven’t and after he examined me and made his adjustments to my neck and back he took me to the xray room to show me what he had found on my xray’s from 2 years ago (I’ve had this condition for 3.5 years). Here is what it looks like on an xray. It was identical to what showed up on my xrays!

“Magenblase” refers to a clinical syndrome characterized by postprandial fullness, pressure, and bloating, often relieved by belching. It is caused by an enlarged air bubble in the stomach. The syndrome can sometimes be mistaken for angina pectoris, with left-sided chest pain, shortness of breath, and palpitation.

This is what has been causing my issues for the last 3.5 years. Now that I finally know WHAT it is I’m dealing with now I can pray against it and research it to figure out WHY it’s happening in the first place. Some of the preliminary research I’ve done says that it could be caused by anything from an enlarged spleen to carcinoma of some kind but I would think I would have other issues if those were the cause. For the most part I feel pretty good with the exception of when I get those large gastric air bubbles.

The other part that’s confusing to me is that the belching always happens before and during my bowel movements. It almost seems like my body is trying to get rid of toxic gasses anyway that it can and maybe I have a pathway that’s blocked so it comes back up through belching? I’m not sure but it’s a new area for me to research now that I know what I’m dealing with. I’m considering trying a weekly coffee enema to help move things along but that’s a whole new area of research.

At the end of the day I feel like I’ve reached a huge breakthrough and I give credit to the power of prayer and God answering that prayer more than anything else! It was Him guiding my steps that brought me to the right Chiropractor after 3.5 years of suffering. Don’t think that the 3.5 years in length is lost on me either. I’ve been through a sort of trial by fire, a personal tribulation if you will and it has built my faith exponentially. Once the shock wore off yesterday I have been ecstatic and my symptoms have suddenly reduced! I will be thanking and praising God throughout the day that much is certain!

None of the allopatchic doctors could tell me what was going on, even after so many tests, scans and xrays. At the end of the day all they could do was tell me my digestion was slow and the rest must just be in my head. Here, take these poisonous pills and stop whining was essentially what they told me in the end. Not one of them saw the gas bubble that was so obvious to my Chiropractor. It jumped off the film for me as well. It’s amazing how blind the MDs can be because of their refusal to look at anything outside of the box. It’s like they’re chained to their physcians desk reference book and anything outside of that doesn’t matter.

So after 3.5 years and all kinds of “cures” that didn’t work and tests that gave me no answers I got my answer from the power of answered prayer. Don’t ever give up, keep the faith no matter what happens! I almost gave up on the Chiropractor because I didn’t think he was doing me any good but God told me to keep going when I prayed. This reminded me to NEVER give up because you might be right next to your breakthrough and you don’t want to miss it!!! If I had canceled my appointment for yesterday I would still have no answers today.

I used to pray and worship through the belching if I could because I refused to let this defeat me. It put me in the hospital once and urgent care many times but nothing they offered did the trick. Don’t be afraid to seek help outside of the box! Seek out a naturopathic doctor like a Chiropractor and do your own digging online. You have a vast library to look at so use it!

I will keep researching my condition and I will give you updates when they’re warranted. God bless you all and I pray you all find the answers you’re looking for as well.
