Devestating…
UPDATE 6-26-26 We had the vet run diagnostics on her yesterday before we made the decision to put her down. The xrays and ultrasound showed a giant hairball had become lodged in her small intestine. This caused her stomach to back up and it’s why she kept throwing up bile. Surgery was $3000 to start with and it would’ve probably been more before it was over. Also as weak as she was it was 50-50 that she would pull through it, so we made the tough call. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us. My wife Lisa sends you her thanks as well.
Losing a pet is devestating, almost as much as losing a human loved one and the memories we create with them will last forever. Therein lies my solace and my only solace is that after we adopted her we did our best to make her life as happy and as comfortable as possible.
Below is a picture of when I picked her up at the animal shelter back in Oct. of 2015. She was so tiny…

She was so tiny but she had the loudest purr I’ve ever heard from a cat before or since. It was probably because she was sick and in pain as she had just been spayed and she desperately wanted out of that shelter.
We kept her quarantined from the other 2 cats we had (they’re still here) for a week as we didn’t want anything she may have had to transfer to the other two. She played with a disc that has a ball in a track in it and she played with that almost nonstop the entire time she was quarantined. She still has it, and when she was well she still played with it a lot and made us laugh. Up until Tuesday she was still doing that and cracking me up. Now I hurt so bad inside I can hardly stand it.
Cherish every single moment you get with your pets and your loved ones because they can be here happy, healthy and full of life one day and BOOM, gone the next. Please pray for my wife Lisa and I as we navigate the first big loss of our little cat family. God only knows how long my boys have but they are 15 and 13 respectively and they’re in the early stages of kidney failure.
Yes we could’ve paid for more tests and found exactly where she’s blocked in her guts but then what? The vet already told us that once they find the blockage that the surgery would cost anywhere from $6,000 and up. So if we spent the $1000 on the xrays, ultrasound and bloodwork then what? We certainly don’t have the funds for surgery (or more testing) and I’m not going to do a fundraiser for several different reasons, one of which is the trolls and Pharisees seem to come out of the woodwork whever I do one or have the audacity to ask for prayer.
In most cases I can compartmentalize things like this and put them to the side so I can work and function. I’m not doing that very well today. Blessings to you,
Johnny
