Don't Speak News

This is getting really old, and as of today I’m done with “free trials” of any kind on my Substack blog. For the second time in two weeks, I’ve got someone disputing a charge on their credit card because they signed up for a 7-day free trial on my Substack blog called Don’t Speak Health. I charge $60 per year or $6 per month if people want to join, and while I don’t have a lot of subscribers so I don’t make much, but it helps pay for things like food, gas, etc. The extra $ can really help out at the right time and that income has saved this channel more than once.

Now instead of being a revenue stream it’s become a liability as not only do I lose out on the $120 the 2 subscriptions would’ve brought in, but they also cost me $15.00 each because of the “dispute fee” I get charged by Stripe. So now I’m out $150 right at the time the website, domain names and hosting are due for renewal. I’m so tired of people essentially stealing from me because they forgot to cancel their free trial on time.

They are claiming that I defrauded them which is a blatant lie, they signed up for it voluntarily, nobody was coercing them! The credit card companies should crack down on this kind of garbage but it doesn’t cost them anything as they’re charging business owners for it.

Whenever I sign up for a free trial of any kind I put the cancelation date on my calendar so it reminds me to cancel in time. If I forget then that’s on me. It’s called being a responsible adult. Unfortunately there aren’t many left who are responsible or have any kind of common sense/decency anymore. This last one was supposedly a doctor but who knows if that’s true or not? If she is one then it shows you that having advanced degrees don’t make you a good person or give you common sense, they never did.

Anyway there goes another revenue stream as it’s costing me more money to post there then I take in. As I’ve been saying for months now, my time online is almost up as all support is drying up and the website will go down soon unless something changes. I can’t afford to do this on my own anymore but please understand I’m not giving up. I know many are in a position where they can’t help financially and that’s fine, just sincerely pray for us to continue.
