Civil Unrest Around the World Continues, India Has Banned all Protests…

The civil unrest around the world continues to grow in spite of government attempts at crackdowns. In some cases it has to do with religion and freedom (India), in others it has to do with pensions, money and immigration policies like in France. The Bible also talks about the “distress of nations” in Luke 21:25 and then Matthew 24:7 discusses “nations rising against nations, kingdoms against kingdoms”. Let’s take a look at one today, India.
India just passed a “Citizenship Amendment Act” and chaos has ensued. It has gotten so bad that India has banned protests across the entire nation (good luck enforcing that). This act is considered discriminatory against Muslims and for good reason. Here is how it works.
“CAA is a measure that the Modi government passed into law last Wednesday that allows amnesty to only non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The result of the controversial new citizenship law considered by many to be discriminatory against Muslims led to violent protest late last week and through the weekend.
Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, and Parsis from the three eligible countries can now receive citizenship if they have illegally entered India though Muslims from the same countries cannot. In spite of the government crackdowns the protests are expected to continue. Source Zero Hedge .
The Kashmir Region is another trouble spot for India and has been under a lock down since August 5th when the internet was cut off along with cellphones and landlines. While some landlines and mobile services have resumed, internet access remains cut off in the region. The authorities say it’s necessary move in order to ensure security in the region.
The shutdown, which entered its 134th day Monday, is now the longest ever imposed in a democracy, according to Access Now, an international advocacy group that tracks Internet suspensions. Only authoritarian regimes such as China and Myanmar have cut off the Internet for longer.
And as always the Indian and Pakistani armies stand facing off against each other along the Line of Control separating the two nations in Kashmir. This is a region where the military buildup continues as 2 nuclear powers face off. This latest citizenship move could be the spark that sets it all off. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail but it appears Modi wants a war to deflect from his problems at home (economy etc). Time will tell and probably soon. I will keep my eyes on things as always.
God bless,
