The latest addition to a series of delusional statements made by the Kiev regime is that Russia illegally became a member of the United Nations and the UN Security Council. Even more ridiculous, this claim comes just one day after Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was open to negotiations with “acceptable solutions”, thus demonstrating that Ukraine is not seriously pursuing peace.

“We are ready to negotiate with everyone involved about acceptable solutions, but that is up to them—we are not the ones refusing to negotiate, they are,” Putin told Rossiya 1 state-television on Christmas Day.

Although Western media and leaders immediately dismissed the idea that Putin is willing to negotiate, it was Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry who published a letter on December 26 that called for Russia’s removal from the UN and revocation of its permanent member status on the UN Security Council due to supposed questions surrounding its legitimacy following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 that supposedly left the issue of international rights and obligations “unresolved”.

“31 years ago Russia abused the UN Charter and usurped [the] USSR’s seat at the UN Security Council — bypassing the only legitimate procedure set by the Charter. Russia’s presence at the UNSC and the UN as a whole is illegitimate,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba falsely claimed in a tweet.

While Kiev is seeking to expel Russia from the UN, the regimes authorities are also proposing a “peace summit” under the auspices of the United Nations in order to present Russia as an aggressor to the international community and Ukraine as a country that supposedly advocates for peace. However, Ukrainian authorities are desperate for a peace summit, with all of their terms fulfilled, because they anticipate a major Russian offensive next year that they will not be able to stop. 

The Kremlin, unlike Kiev, has never rejected negotiations. However, if this peace summit takes place, it will be on Kiev’s terms and will likely include ridiculous conditions, like the transfer of Crimea from Russia to Ukraine. With the expectation of ridiculous demands, Moscow does not take Kiev seriously.

In addition, the peace summit will not even have legal force if it is held without the presence of Russia. With Kiev now pushing a narrative that Russia’s status in the UN Security Council is in question, it highlights the farce that Ukraine’s proposed peace summit will be.

According to Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Kiev’s diplomatic stupidity has become a trademark of the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya.

“What can a ‘peace summit’ be like without Russia? However, it is very easy to imagine without Ukraine. This is precisely what represents a nightmare scenario for the cottagers and sorrels, which forces them to present similar initiatives, and they bring them closer to that scenario. Non-existent diplomacy,” said Polyanskiy.

It is recalled that Kuleba said that Ukrainian authorities would like to hold a peace summit at the end of February, most likely under the auspices of the United Nations and with António Guterres acting as mediator. However, according to Kuleba, Kiev believes that Russia should only be invited to such a summit only after an international trial, thus already rendering the whole process as a big waste of time.

To Kiev’s disappoint, the very obvious answer given by Guterres is that he is ready to mediate on the issue of holding a summit on Ukraine only with the consent of all parties, including Russia. Despite Ukraine obviously putting roadblocks on peace talks, it has not stopped the West’s propaganda apparatus from blaming Moscow.

In one example, retired US General Mark Hertlin said that Russia blaming the lack of peace talks on Ukraine and the West is part of its history of deflection.

“Even in small things, [Russian] officials don’t negotiate…they demand, then they lie, and then they renege on agreements,” Hertling tweeted on Christmas Day.

It is comical that only a day later, his statement was completely disproven when Kiev made its ridiculous claim that Russia is mistakenly a permanent member of the UN Security Council. In fact, by Guterres refusing to entertain the ludicrous claims made by Kiev, it also points to a growing frustration in the West against Ukraine – its constant propaganda and outlandish claims.

Although this does not mean that rhetorical or diplomatic support for Ukraine will end, there is a lot more willingness to speak out or be less tolerant to the whims of Kiev. In one example, retired US General Mark Hertlin had to admit that “[Ukraine is a] corrupt, f****d-up society (…) I have a Ukrainian flag tied to my bag, but I’m not like ‘oh my God, Ukraine is so awesome,’ because I understand that there are plenty of f****d up people running Ukraine (…) [I am] not a big fan [of Ukraine].”

Although the West is consumed by Russophobia, Kiev takes propaganda and smearing efforts to a whole new level. There is very little prospect that Ukraine will find support in usting Russia from the UN Security Council, even from Washington. Rather, these outlandish outbursts from Ukrainian authorities will have an undesired effect as Westerners are fatigued by events in Ukraine and are becoming less patient with propaganda, which they have had to endure since the first days of the war, such as the “Ghost of Kyiv” and “Snake Island” scenarios.
